Over 4,800 people attended the successful grand opening of The Sound Amphitheater on Friday, April 12. The $8 million state-of-the-art venue, a cornerstone of the Town Commons Project, significantly impacts both the City of Gautier and the broader Coastal region both economically and culturally.

The city of Oxford will soon be flooded with an abundance of beautiful artwork, creativity, and lots of great music along with a barrage of crowds at the city’s premier event of the year—the Double Decker Festival. This spring, on April 26-27, marks the 27th edition of this annual fest.

This weekend, the City of Amory is set to host its first Railroad Festival following the aftermath of the devastating tornado that swept through the South in March 2023. After an afternoon full of local talent and a karaoke competition, Amory’s own, and American Idol 2023 Top 5 Finalist, Zachariah Smith, takes the spotlight on the main stage on the 2nd night of the Railroad Festival, scheduled for this Saturday, April 13, 2024. Smith’s primetime performance promises to be a highlight of the event.

If you’re a frequenter of such late-night establishments as The Juke Joint or The Cannery, then hopefully you’ve had the pleasure of rocking out to Burn N Redd. These long-time friends have separately made their impression on the coastal rock, goth, and metal scene for years now. While tremendously talented performers on their own, it is their combined talents that will really blow you away. 

Step into a world of fantasy and wonder as “Fairytales on Ice” brings “Peter and Wendy’s Adventures” to the Hattiesburg Saenger Theater on March 28. You’ll be transported into the pages of your favorite fairytales and will be treated to an evening of fun and adventure. There will be pirates, lost boys, mermaids, a touch of pixie dust, and lots of fun for the whole family. 

While living in New Orleans, London met Scott Hoverman, owner of 3 Alarm Comics in Ocean Springs. Hoverman invited London to come and sign autographs as a celebrity guest, introducing him to Mississippi. “I fell in love with Ocean Springs,” shared London. “It is truly a magical little place. So beautiful.” At that time, London’s family was expecting. “We were about to have a baby, and New Orleans didn’t feel like the place we truly wanted to be,” shared London. “So the Universe brought us here.” 

“America at the Crossroads: The GUITAR and a Changing Nation,” will run through May 11 and traces the evolution and powerful influence of the guitar with notable connections to Mississippi. The exhibit and other special events at the museum are attracting strong interest among guitarists and other music enthusiasts across the region: renowned guitarist and Mississippi native Adam McPhail will come home to play and host a workshop. 

The Mardi Gras season is a time of nonstop partying and celebrating. The Annual 12th Night Celebration at Biloxi City Hall has been rescheduled to Jan. 10 due to inclement weather. Join The celebration as the Carnival lights is turned on, signaling the start of the Mardi Gras season. The festivities will be from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This is basically the kickoff to a slew of krewes that will be rolling along the Coast.
