MGCCC instructors receive Z-Degree Mississippi Grant

Four Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College instructors received a Z-Degree Mississippi Grant from The University of Mississippi.  The instructors, all from the Jackson County Campus, are Javier Gomez, language arts; David Hilton, social studies; Carin Platt, development studies; and Dr. Christy Philippoff, science.

Each instructor will receive $1,000 to integrate open educational resources into their courses.  They were also invited to attend workshops offered by Lumen Learning, a leading consulting group.

Under the grant, recipients are required to conduct research and planning during the spring and summer of 2018 and use open educational resources in a course during the 2018-2019 academic year. They must also participate in a survey, along with their students, designed to improve the Z-Degree program.
