Common surgical procedures that used to require large incisions and lengthy hospital stays have been revolutionized with the addition of robotic surgical techniques, now available at both Ocean Springs and Singing River Hospitals.
Area surgeons, clinical staff and officials at Singing River Health System held an Open House and demonstration of their robotic surgery capabilities this week at Ocean Springs Hospital. “Today’s patients and their surgeons want the very best technology for their procedures, and we’re thrilled to introduce the daVinci XI robotic surgery system to Ocean Springs,” says Tiffany Murdock, Executive Director of Surgical Services for Singing River Health System. The system also uses the technology at Singing River Hospital.
Minimally invasive robotic surgical technology allows shorter surgical times, smaller incisions, less bleeding and a much faster recovery for procedures including hernia repair, gall bladder, hysterectomies, prostatectomies and other common surgeries for qualifying patients. “This technology and the results are truly remarkable, and demand for robotic procedures has already exceeded our expectations,” says Murdock. “Any patient facing a surgical procedure should ask their doctor about robotic options.”
