Our Mississippi Home presenting ‘Inside the Environment’ series

This is something I’ve been pondering for a while, and I’m very glad to see it coming to fruition.

I’ll be launching a new column series called ‘Inside the Environment’ this football season. Say everything goes as planned and COVID-19 does not begrime college football as we know it for a second year in a row, I will be traveling to a home game at six of Mississippi’s Division I schools, one Division II school, one Division III school, and one JUCO.

The goal of this series is to not necessarily write about the X’s and O’s (of course, some of those will be sprinkled in there—naturally) but to highlight the respective gameday environment at each institution.

I look forward to this journey, interacting with the fans, enjoying the tailgate scenes, and then witnessing how loud the games get now that we have full stadiums once again (fingers crossed).

Here’s the official 2021 Inside the Environment schedule:

September 18: Troy @ Southern Miss

September 25: LSU @ Mississippi State

October 2: North Carolina Central @ Mississippi Valley State

October 9: Grambling State @ Alcorn State

October 14: Northwest CC @ Mississippi Gulf Coast CC

October 16: Alabama State @ Jackson State

October 30: Sewanee @ Millsaps

November 6: Liberty @ Ole Miss

November 13: West Georgia @ Delta State

Editor’s Note: The featured graphic contains a typo. The Southern Miss game is on September 18, not September 19. Cheers!
