In February, the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery hosted its annual Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) scholarship breakfast, presenting $30,000 in scholarships to eight students in the Process Technology and Maintenance Process Technologies Programs.
Led by Chevron retiree Tommie Ann Broome, the courses train students to work at the Refinery and other plants across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Graduates of the two-year program earn an Associate of Applied Science degree and are prepared for entry-level positions at processing facilities.
During the 11 years since the Process Technology Program began, Chevron has hired 86 Process Technology intern graduates, hosted 154 interns and co-ops, and provided course scholarships to more than thirty students.
In addition, since the Maintenance Process Technologies Program began in 2011, Chevron has hired three Instrument & Controls graduates, one machinist, and hosted 42 interns and co-ops from the maintenance program.
